Understanding the difference between the concepts of transparent, translucent and opaque is complex, but this board shows the difference with clarity! When light hits a transparent object, it will pass straight through it. When it hits the surface of an opaque object it will bounce off it. And when light hits a translucent object, it will be scattered - with only some light passing through it. The ‘Does Light Go Through?’ Discovery Board allows children to see examples of all three and experiment with them thus gaining ‘first hand’ experience of the differences.
