Gemstones are visually interesting and exotic. This set comprises of 5 different coloured gemstone components. Starting with blue, which is a single gemstone square, green is 2 gemstones connected, yellow is a line of 3 gemstones, orange is a line of 4 and red a line of 5. Together then can be used in open-ended play and focussed mathematical counting games. Within the board they can be arranged to show numbers from one to 5, sequences and patterns and for simple arithmetic. At a stage when children are beginning to make the connection between a number symbol and the quantity this represents this set is invaluable.
